New Every Morning!

We thank the Lord that God's mercies are new every morning! Just thought I would add a picture of a glorious sunrise from our house. I didn't actually see it (I was tucked up in bed). Laurie took it as he left the house the other morning on his way to the airstrip.

Viruses!

Please pray for Laurie tomorrow. He's off to fly to area with a charity to check out a suspected Ebola outbreak. I know I used to work on viruses, and on one hand that's amazingly exciting - but we'd appreciate some prayer for him and those that are working closely with the patients. Thanks!

Sir Trevor MacDonald

Yesterday I (Laurie) was privileged to fly Sir Trevor Macdonald from Kajjansi to Kasese and Mweya. He was on a trip shadowing the Duke of Edinburgh for a documentary coming out next year some time. It was a great day, I took the whole production crew along too and I think that they had a good day. We ended up in Mweya safari lodge all having a cup of tea before heading home late afternoon.
I did a fair amount of hanging around that day and think that I got a bit sun-burned!

The Queen has arrived!

Today, I went down with the girls to the roundabout at the bottom of our road with a friend and her kids. We knew that the Queen was going to pass sometime soon to go to Mildmay - a Hospice just down the road. We were a very funny bunch of muzungus (white folks) - about 10 of us eventually, that stood to wave as she went by. We even attracted a local news network that interviewed us! What fun! Naomi wanted to know if she was the real Queen!

We're Ready for CHOGM!

Emma says:
We are ready for CHOGM! This week, the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) is meeting in Kampala. The Queen arrives this week along with 52 other heads of the Commonwealth. Uganda has been sprucing up the streets for quite some time now! There are tonnes of posters all around the town saying 'Are you ready for CHOGM?'. Some of them have been quite funny.

We have all been warned to stay off the streets - many roads will be closed, or ID will be needed to pass them. Consequently, we have all stocked up on lots of food to last us the week so that we won't starve if we can't make it to the shops! Unfortunately, I am playing Mozart's Requiem at Namirembe Cathedral on Thursday, along with another friend Lucy - and so we will still need to cross town each evening for rehearsals! Ah well.

We are Back Online!

Nov 18th 2007
Emma Says:
We are back online after a huge hiatus away from the internet! Sadly our old website died, so here is a new, shiny blog to replace it! We will be putting photos, prayers and general info on here on a more regular basis (says she hopefully).

The reason for this huge new interest in all things 'internetty' is because we now have internet at home! Yahoo! Thanks to Laurie and two friends who managed to scale large trees, they have hooked up an antenna so that we can connect to the MAF office's internet connection.

Well, enough for now. Speak later.
